9:00am We meet at our Salt Lake City hotel and head south toward red-rock country. As the mountains give way to open desert, we’ll make our way to Moab and spend the afternoon exploring the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. Our first walk is the easy half-mile loop to Mesa Arch, where the arch frames a dramatic view into the canyons below. We’ll continue to Upheaval Dome to see its enormous crater-like formation, then take in the quieter panorama at Green River Overlook. At the end of the scenic road, Grand View Point offers sweeping views and the chance to hike farther into this remarkable landscape. After our afternoon in the park, we return to Moab to set up camp. We start early today to explore Arches National Park before the afternoon heat. With trails leading to sandstone arches, rock formations, and sweeping desert views, there are plenty of ways to spend our time here. Your guide will choose hikes that fit the weather and the group’s interests. After our time in Arches, we head to another short hike through a more shaded red rock canyon to a waterfall and swimming hole. It’s a wonderful place to cool off in the heat of the day. Tonight, we return to Moab with time to wander through town, browse the shops, and enjoy dinner in town before heading back to camp.

We leave Moab this morning and travel south through a landscape that seems to grow wider with every mile. Red rock cliffs give way to open desert, distant mesas, and long stretches of highway. Before reaching Monument Valley, we stop at Forrest Gump Point for that unforgettable view of the road leading straight toward the buttes. At Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, you can choose how to spend your time. Join an optional Jeep tour with a Navajo guide to travel deeper into the valley and visit places that are only accessible on a guided tour. Or keep the afternoon simple. Take in the view from the visitor center, find a quiet place to relax, or explore on foot. Later, we continue through the Navajo Nation toward Page, Arizona. If time and conditions allow, we may stop for a swim at Lake Powell, a welcome break from the desert heat. Our planned finale is Horseshoe Bend in the evening, when the light changes across the canyon and the Colorado River comes into view far below. Tonight we settle into our campground after a day that takes us from Moab’s red rocks to some of the Southwest’s most memorable landscapes.

This morning, you can join an optional guided tour of Antelope Canyon. Walking through its narrow sandstone passages is an experience unlike anything else on the trip, and a morning visit gets us moving before the hottest part of the day. If you’d rather take it slow, sleep in and enjoy a relaxed morning at camp. Once everyone is back together, we leave Page and drive north toward Bryce Canyon National Park. We’ll set up camp, then head into the park for the afternoon. Bryce’s colorful hoodoos fill the amphitheater below the rim, and even a short walk opens up a new view around every bend. We’ll take an easy walk along the rim, with the option to go farther into the canyon for travelers that want more of a challenge. Before returning to camp, we’ll find a viewpoint and watch the evening light change across the canyon. It’s a beautiful way to finish our day at Bryce.

We pack up camp this morning and head for Zion National Park. We’ll go straight into the park when we arrive, leaving camp setup until the evening so we have as much time as possible to explore. During the summer, Zion’s free shuttle carries visitors through the main canyon. We can ride in together, then use the stops to choose hikes and viewpoints that suit different interests. One option is to ride to the Temple of Sinawava and follow the Riverside Walk beside the Virgin River. If conditions are right, those who want a bigger adventure can continue into the Narrows, where the hike leads into the river itself. Your guide will help everyone plan their time around the weather, river conditions, and when we need to meet again. In the evening, we meet back up, head to camp, and set up for the night. After dinner, we can slow down and enjoy the stars above the desert.

After breakfast, we pack up camp and make the drive to Las Vegas. We’ll arrive with time to stop for lunch before heading down the Strip. Along the way, your guide will point out some of the places you might want to explore tonight. We’ll stop for a group photo at the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, then continue to Seven Magic Mountains. These towering stacks of brightly colored boulders make one last memorable stop before we head to our hotel on the Strip. The afternoon is yours to settle in, enjoy the pool, or start exploring Las Vegas. Most groups like to spend their final evening together. If yours is interested, your guide can arrange an optional party bus ride. Whether you join in or make your own plans, it’s a fun place to celebrate the end of a week on the road.

You might need to sleep in today because we were probably out too late the night before. Today the tour officially ends at 9am, but you are welcome to use your hotel room until checkout which is 11 am. Your tour guide will be able to help you make your own arrangements to get to the airport or wherever else you need to go.
